Professor Yemi Osinbajo welcomed by Emir of Daura to Katsina

THE Acting President Yemi Osinbajo has said that his party, All Progressives Congress (APC), must win any bye-election in the country in order to form the majority in the National Assembly.

Speaking during a grand finale of APC campaign ahead of Daura senatorial bye-election scheduled to hold on Saturday, Osinbajo said the APC wants to win the election for several reasons.

He said the party need to ensure that the win honoured President Muhammdu Buhari as the election would be taking place at the senatorial zone he comes from.

He further said the party APC has gone a long way in the development of critical infrastructure across the country to lay the foundation for sustainable economic development.

Arguing the effort cannot be wasted pointing to the huge investment made in power, rail and roads infrastructure which are preconditions for socio-economic development.

Professor Osinbajo pointed out that despite the shortfall in revenue accruing to the country in the last three years; the current administration has been able to improve the living standard of a large number of poor Nigerians through its born programme of social investment and farming.

He said what the country was currently going through was a battle between good and evil, and those evil men trying to bring down Buhari administration would never succeed.

He called on Nigerians to “vote for the APC in the interest of the common man,” adding that “so long as Buhari ruled the country, Nigeria will only get better and better.”

Speaking, the APC national chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, said the Buhari administration had “restored the confidence of the country in the eyes of the international community.”

Oshiomhole, who spoke in Hausa language, said many Nigerians, and himself included, could now confidently go abroad without being embarrassed.

He said monies belonging to the public were embezzled in the past, but that under Buhari, Nigerians can sigh with relief that their wealth was in safe hands.

On the Saturday election, he called on voters to “accept monies given them by politicians from other parties, but “vote for the chosen candidate of the APC.”

The rally which held at the Kangiwa Square, at the entrance to the Emir of Daura’s palace, had several dignitaries in attendance.

Some of them include the Kano state governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, minister of state for aviation, Hadi Sirika, and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha.

Others are the water resources minister, Suleiman Adamu, Kaduna state governor, Nasiru El-rufai who was represented by the commissioner of lands, Suleiman Abdulkarim.

The host governor, Aminu Bello Masari, senators from Katsina, Umar Kurfi (Katsina central), Abu Ibrahim (Katsina south), among others, were also at the event to ensure the victory of APC candidate at the Saturday Polls.

A total of six candidates from different political parties are contesting for the position, with Hon. Ahmed Babba Kaita being the APC flag bearer.
