The Unbiased Nationwide Electoral Fee says the police and never the army will lead safety operations on election day.
The INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmoud Yakubu, stated this at a press convention in Abuja on Wednesday.
Yakubu stated the police can be answerable for guarding polling models and coordinate different safety companies.

He stated the army would solely be allowed inside the outer periphery after which the police may name on them for help if want be.
The INEC boss stated, “The army is not going to be concerned within the polling models, they won’t be concerned within the rapid internal elements. However relying on the invitation they obtain from the police, they could play a task assigned them by the lead company in election safety which is the Nigerian police.
“So, INEC works with the police because the lead safety company however based mostly on the evaluation of menace and the help the police require, they will additionally name on different companies together with the army.”
