Browns reportedly exploring Josh Gordon commerce choices before releasing WR | NFL


Josh Gordon is now not a member of the Browns.

Cleveland announced Saturday it plans to release the 27-year-old extensive receiver. The transfer got here after Gordon didn’t report back to the Browns’ facility on time earlier within the day, in response to a report from The Athletic, which cites an unidentified league supply.

“For the past six years, the Browns have fully supported and invested in Josh, both personally and professionally and wanted the best for him,” Browns normal supervisor John Dorsey stated in an announcement. “Unfortunately, we’ve reached a point where we feel it’s best to part ways and move forward. We wish Josh well.”

Gordon launched a statement on his Instagram story Saturday evening, thanking Cleveland and the Browns for giving him an opportunity.

“I’m extremely honored and blessed to have been able to grow up and start a life amongst such a passionate and motivated group of individuals,” Gordon wrote, partially.

There was an “overall trust issue” between Gordon and the team, in response to a report from the NFL Network. Gordon has been suspended a number of instances for violating the league’s substance-abuse policy, missing the whole 2015 and 2016 seasons before returning final year.

Gordon suffered a hamstring damage at a promotional shoot, in response to a report from ESPN. He had been ruled out for the Browns game against the Saints on Sunday due to the damage before his release.

The Browns might commerce Gordon as a substitute of slicing him, that report says.

Gordon re-joined Cleveland in late August after he stepped away from the team to take care of private points before the beginning of coaching camp. He caught a 17-yard landing go within the Browns’ season-opening 21-21 tie against the Steelers final weekend.

His greatest season got here in 2013 when he made the Pro Bowl after registering 1,646 receiving yards and 9 touchdowns for the Browns.
