Honourable Israel Goli, the lawmaker representing Brass Constituency 1 within the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, has accused the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of intimidation relating to his determination to contest the Nembe/Brass Federal Constituency in 2019.
Dickson had alleged that Goli was behind the killings in Bayelsa, and subsequently ordered for his arrest.
However, Goli, who denied all of the allegations against him, acknowledged that the PDP was after him due to the Nembe/ Brass House of Representatives Federal Constituency seat, for which he’s contesting on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Noting that he had refused overtures to defect to PDP and contest for the seat on its platform, stated he has come under assault, he stated the PDP-led government “is looking for ways to prosecute him on trumped-up charges because of his rising political profile”.
According to the lawmaker, his two supporters have been killed in Brass and a petition was forwarded to the Police to make sure that these behind the killing are delivered to guide.
He stated: “Since August 23, when Kelly Ikurusi and Peter George have been killed, APC in Bayelsa has been in mourning. I don’t know why a government that claims it doesn’t condone crime and criminality would encourage Bayelsa youths to prevent Police detectives from doing their work.
“I have told the Police our concern and that is that we shall follow the path of the law and ensure that those involved in the alleged murder are brought to book. No amount of intimidation would make us back down.”
Meanwhile, the Bayelsa State chapter of the APC has described the directive by the Governor Dickson calling for the arrest of its member and the lawmaker representing Brass Constituency 1, Israel Goli, as intimidation.
